How many times have you been scrolling through Facebook and have come across a post saying "Pray for..."? Maybe we are being asked to pray for a friend whose son has COVID or an unknown person with cancer. More recently I am sure you have seen as I have, numerous posts reminding us to pray for the people of Afghanistan and for our troops.
What do you do when you see one of these posts? What do I do? Do we continue to scroll on by? Or maybe we leave a "praying for you" comment with the praying hands emoji. But are we really? How many times do we forget to pray when we said that we would? Or maybe we never really intended to in the first place.
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people." (Eph. 6:18)
What would happen if we did this? What would happen if we took the time to stop scrolling and pray, really pray, right then? What would happen if we acted like we really believed James 5:16? "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."
God could use us, use social media, to change our world and to change the lives of a friend's son with COVID, and unknown person with cancer, the people of Afghanistan, and our troops.
I challenge you and I challenge myself to stop scrolling and pray. Do you have a prayer need? Drop it in the comments below. Then take the time to pray for someone else. We all want to see change in this world. Why not let it start right here with you and me?
