My children LOVE listening to the Focus on the Family radio drama Adventures in Odyssey. In fact, they love listening sooo much, that one year for Christmas we got them a subscription to the Odyssey Club, so they can listen whenever they want. Sometimes "whenever they want" is ALL THE TIME...when they get up in the morning, while they are doing chores, while they are playing, and when they go to bed!
Some of my favorite Odyssey episodes are the ones where they use the Imagination Station to go back to Bible times. How cool would that have been to actually be there when Jesus walked the earth or be with the Israelites when God parted the Red Sea! Or what about witnessing the power of God through the prophet Elijah on Mt. Carmel? But then I remember that God chose you and me for THIS time and for THIS place. He placed us on earth at this specific time. To me, this is exciting and overwhelming.
Esther 4:14 reads "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you will have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" Just as Esther was chosen for her time, you have been chosen for this time.
As exciting as it would have been to live during Bible times, I believe that we truly ARE living during Bible times today. Prophecies are being fulfilled like never before. Young men are dreaming dreams; old men are seeing visions (Joel 2:28). These are the times predicted in the Bible, and God chose US to be alive today!! I like to think that the "great cloud of witnesses" (Hebrews 12:1) is cheering us on as we run our race, looking forward with anticipation to see these Biblical times come to pass.
So as we remember that we have indeed been chosen for such a time as this, "let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
