Senior year is such a busy time. The last thing you want to worry about is what to wear for senior pictures. I want to take some of that stress off you, just to make your life a little bit easier. I’m going to help you answer the question, “what do I wear?”
What to keep in mind…?
First off you want to have a variety of comfortable styles. The one thing you don’t want is being uncomfortable all day. Be sure you have tried everything on, just to make sure everything fits and goes together the way you have anticipated. Be cognizant of appropriated undergarments for every style outfit you choose. The last things to keep in mind is that the styles you choose aren’t accentuating anything you don’t want them to, and your outfits have been steamed or ironed to your standards. These pictures are all about YOU. Represent who YOU are.
What to avoid…?
You may want to avoid super short skirts or dresses that can limit posing. Also stay away from low cut tops as well as tube tops and sleeveless dresses for the same reason. Those can also sometimes be uncomfortable, and we are all about comfort, right? If you choose to wear a short skirt or sleeveless dress, make sure to bring another outfit so we can give you a variety of poses.
How to pick the perfect outfit?
When you are staring in your closet or at your favorite store, look for solid colors and layers for variety. Choose form fitting items, but remember you need to move around easily. Whether you have blue, brown, hazel, or green eyes, wear accessories that will bring them out. Make sure to bring some accessories for fun posing...hats, shoes, etc. And don't forget your sports jersey or band uniform!
Let mom or dad have a favorite outfit of their own. They are paying for it, right? But seriously, we always encourage our seniors to let mom or dad have a favorite of their own.You don’t want to look back at your senior pictures a decade from now and think “what in the world was I thinking?” That’s why we recommend that at least one of your outfits is timeless, and not too trendy.
You are a teenager though, so don’t be afraid to celebrate it. Feel free to show off your youth with something fun, something that will remind you of this time in your life forever. What do you usually wear? Bring an outfit that your parents and friends might see you in every day. There is no need to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe for your senior pictures...but if you love shopping, senior pictures is a great excuse for a shopping trip to the Quad Cities or even just here in Clinton.
